Instructions for Livestream Captioning
When open captions services are needed for live streaming on Media Central, it’s best to contact Caption First or a similar vendor at least a month and a half in advance.
Please note:
- Captioning costs and scheduling are the responsibility of the requesting department
- The Broadcast Center can only caption ONE event at a time
- Livestream requests must go through EMS to request AV Services
Caption First reservations require a request form to secure their services. The information form is attached below.

Fill out the information form accordingly.
We recommend “30 minutes” for the “Captioner connection time” field to properly conduct tech checks and troubleshooting if needed.
In the “How will we receive audio?” field please add “via iCAP software through a caption encoder. Encoder settings and info shall be provided by Eric Alonzo, [email protected].”
Please send the completed information form to Tina Jacobson ([email protected]) and Eric Alonzo ([email protected])
Alternative Caption Technologies
If human captioning services are unavailable, the resources below should be used for automated captions.
